The former Takabe Village was formed by the merger of Ouchi Village, Umegaya Village, Kashio Village, Oshikirihara Village, Ouchi Shinden, Noshima Village, and Torisaka Village with the implementation of the town and village system on April 1, 1889. A school called “Teikyo House” was built in the neighborhood. This is the beginning of Takabe Elementary School.

1981年2月26日夜, 温暖な宮崎を大寒波が襲う. 寒波と強風は県内の, みかん産地に甚大な被害をもたらした. 霜で果実は壊滅, 木も回復に数年かかる半枯死状態となったらしい. ビニールをかけて木を守ろう. 翌年, 現JAはまゆうの3戸の農家が温州みかんやポンカン, ネーブルなどの苗木をハウスで育て始めた. きんかんもその中の一つと教えられた
