In the Kofun period, tumuli were built along the coasts of the Ariake Sea and Tachibana Bay. Zenjinsan tumulus (Takaki Town), Omine tumulus and Nagatoonizuka tumulus (Konagai Town) are tumuli with horizontal hole type stone chambers. The Omine tumulus is famous as the only tumulus in this prefecture with a stone shelf in the stone chamber. The North-South dynasty was united in 1392, and then Naoyoshi Saigo appeared at the beginning of the Warring States period. The world of fierce Warring States was put to an end. After that, Mr. Saigo will rule this region for about 100 years until the beginning of the Edo period. Mr. Saigo built Takaki around 1474, and to prevent the invasion of foreign enemies, he built branch castles such as Oki Castle (Nakaoki Town), Ejo (Moriyama Town), Masaki Castle (Masaki Town), and Furuta Castle (Zenjuji, Takaki Town). The Isahaya area at that time was almost the same as the current Isahaya city, except that part of Tarami Town was included in the Omura Domain. The Saga domain carried out three-part landing twice in 1610 and 1621 for financial reconstruction, and the initial 22,000 koku of rice decreased to more than 10,000 koku of rice. In addition, the control system for Isahaya territory has been strengthened politically and economically by establishing the Saga magistrate’s office. The fruit size is medium, the fruit shape is oblate, the fruit surface is smooth, the skin is thin, and the skin is easy to peel. The sweetness of the juice is medium class, the acidity is moderate, and the storability is good, so it seems that you can enjoy it for a long time. In addition, the acid (C6H8O7) in the fruit quickly decreases, and it seems to be a variety that does not easily develop floating skin (a fruit with a gap between the mandarin orange peel and the fruit that is easily damaged). The fruits have a fruit shape index of 130-135, which is equal to or slightly flattened with that of “Wase Miyagawa Wenzhou Mikan” and have well-aligned balls.

It was discovered in 1970 by Toshihiko Ueno in Hamatama Town, Higashimatsuura District, Saga Prefecture (now Karatsu City) as a branch change of Wasad Miyagawa mandarin orange, and was registered as a variety in 1985. The vigor of the tree is about the same as or slightly stronger than that of ‘Wase Miyagawa mikan’, which is strong as an extremely early unshu. Unlike other extremely early unshu, it not only grows vigorously during the fruitless period, but also has relatively good tree vigor even when it starts to bear fruit. The seedlings grow well, and the branches are substantial, making it an easy-to-cultivate strain. The flowering period is almost the same and the period is short. Fruit setting is good and productive, and there seems to be almost no biennial result. The fruit shape is relatively flat, the skin is thin and smooth, the orange color is deep and beautiful, the fruit size is medium, and the balls are well arranged. Coloring usually starts around mid-September, lasts about 3-5 minutes in late September, and is completely colored in early-mid-October.
