The Rokko region is located in the southeastern part of the prefecture, and is a flat land between the Pacific Ocean, the Tonegawa River, and Lake Kasumigaura. Paddy field is Kasumigaura, Lake Kitaura, and alluvial land along the Tonegawa River basin. Although the area of arable land and the total number of farmers is about 10% of the prefecture as a whole, full-time farmers account for more than 20% of the prefecture as a whole. Upland farming accounts for about 60% of the total area, and it is an intensive agriculture centered on greenhouse horticulture, such as melons, green peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, and leafy vegetables that are shipped year-round.
