From Fukushima Tenkoen New breed 2010, Yumekaori Peach is the newest variety with extra-large fruit, best shelf life and latest harvest. Mr. Tadayoshi Takahashi of Fukushima Prefecture selected and nurtured “Nishino Hakuto Peach” from natural hybrid seedlings, and in 2008, Goku-Okute was registered as a variety under the Seed and Seedling Law. The fruit weight is about 500-600 g, the fruit is very large, the shape is oval, and the coloring of the peel is medium. The flesh is a little hard, the juice is medium, and both sweetness and sourness are medium, but after ripening about 7 to 10 days after harvest, the juice becomes rich and the taste is good. The shelf life is extremely high. It seems that marsupial cultivation is the basics because the core crack is seen a little, the coloring is medium and the fruit is cracked. In Fukushima City, it seems to be harvested around the beginning of October. The tree shape is spreading and the tree vigor is rather strong. Among the Goku-Okute cultivars, it has less physiological fruit drop and high productivity, but it seems that it needs pollinating trees because it does not have pollen.
According to JA Zen-Noh Yamanashi, peaches are a representative summer fruit popular for their gentle sweetness and smooth texture. In order to ensure stable shipments, it seems common to relay shipments of multiple varieties that are best suited for the shipping season, just like other fruit trees. Representative varieties include “Chiyohime peach” for Wase, “Hikawa Hakuho peach” for Nakate, and “Kawanakajima Hakuho peach” for Okute. Hard-fleshed cultivars are the mainstream. Utilizing advanced production technology and fruit sorting machines with optical sensors, we often ship those with particularly high sugar content and good shape as JA’s “brand peaches”. It seems that they are working on supply according to each demand.
Yumekaori peach is a very large, latest-harvested new variety. Fruit weight is 500 g ~ 600 g, super large ball, oval and firm peach. Peaches are both sweet and sour, but if you let them ripen for about a week, the juice will increase and the taste will become richer.
